“Gretta”
“Gretta”
The Cliff Notes version: J acquired Gretta from a guy who dismantles cars for a living. We got the car for free in exchange for piecing the car out. All that we were left was a drivetrain, and an instrument cluster. Everything else went. Seats, heater, windows, panels, carpet, lights, switches, sunroof, etc, you get the picture. Now we had a $500 budget to build her. Since the motor that came in her was essentially bad, J built a “FrankenMotor” by using the block from a Super ETA E30, and the head from an “i” E30. Both were bought used and cheap, and the head even came with it’s own bent valves. Some cheap machining, J’s engine building skills, and a short while later, Gretta was alive! And oh my, she runs great. Somewhere in between we hacked springs, anti-sway bars, battery mounts, shock mounts, etc, and got the rest of her ready for racing. Special thanks to J’s shop, bigfishmotorsports.com and Shane at Extreme Fab for the roll cage work.
